On Monday 7th of November we had a day to celebrate the new arts building. Music, Drama and Art activities were planned with an evening concert.
The Art department ran three different workshops. Stuart McCaffer, our creative mentor ran a sculpture workshop with Yr 7 & 8 students using the game ‘Consequences’ as inspiration. He also later ran a lantern making workshop for Yr 7 students who have been invited to participate in the turning on of the Christmas lights in Victoria.
Yr 12 students enjoyed an all day drawing workshop with artist Paul Brandford using images from newspapers as starting points. The workshop focused upon the development of the participant’s own visual language in relation to the stimulus so the how was just as important as the what. The day moved through phases of instinctive experimentation with both charcoal and ink culminating in more prolonged pieces within which inventive procedures explored earlier are applied.
Below are a mixture of images from the day.
