On Monday 21st November a group of 15 G&T Year 9 students took part in a workshop at the Royal College of art. It was a fantastic day of drawing and exploring ideas about display and curation, with artist Jessie Brennan who came second in this year’s Jerwood Drawing Prize.
The students also had a chance to look at the Secret Postcard exhibition, where artists are asked to produce postcards alongside RCA students and staff which are auctioned off (the artist is only revealed once the purchase has been made). Within the workshop the students explored what makes an art work valuable, how we judge quality and how display can significantly affect perception of value.
All of the students thoroughly enjoyed the creative freedom they had within the studio and the opportunity to approach drawing in new and exciting ways.
